Valley riding high as premier A netball takes a break

Valley Ahi edged Athletic with a fourth quarter comeback in the latest round of the North Otago Netball premier A netball competition.

Last year’s runner-ups were down by one heading in to the final quarter last weekend.

They then rallied to pull ahead and get the win 55-48.

Valley made it two wins from two games one the day as Manawa also beat Waitaki Girls’ High School 62-41.

Maheno and St Kevin’s College also got wins against the newly promoted Old Boys and Waitaki Girls’ Lightning Strike, respectively.

Last weekend’s games were the first of the second round for the premier A grade.

The table has reset and the two new teams were added after earning promotion.

The competition will now break for two weeks to coincide with the school holidays and resume July 18.

There are six more games to be played before the semifinals begin on August 29.
