Queenstown's 101-year-old Lady of the Lake has been resting at Kelvin Heights, ready for her annual survey.
TSS Earnslaw was hauled up the Kelvin Heights slipway on Tuesday morning and will spend nine weeks there.
The operator of the twin-screw steamship, Real Journeys, is using two of its original Fiordlander class vessels to take visitors to Walter Peak while Earnslaw is out of the water.
Real Journeys chief executive Richard Lauder said this year's work on the vessel would focus on replacing two sections of the vessel's hull plating, ribs and stringers that have been worn away over the years.
''Maintenance and the preservation of the TSS Earnslaw remains a continuous focus for Real Journeys so she can be experienced for another 100 years on Lake Wakatipu,'' Mr Lauder said.
''She may take a bit more effort than your average catamaran to maintain but she's certainly worth it.''
Earnslaw's sailings to Walter Peak are due to resume on July 13.
