Police inquiries are continuing into the truck crash on the Lindis Pass which blocked State Highway 8 for most of Wednesday.
The Mainfreight truck and trailer unit was carting a 30-35 tonne load of chemicals from Christchurch to Cromwell when it crashed at Dip Creek, about 10km south of the summit.
Yesterday, Constable Maude O'Connell said the Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit had attended the scene and would provide a report to police.
The driver, a Cromwell man in his 40s, was interviewed in Oamaru on Wednesday.
He was taken to Oamaru Hospital by ambulance and was fortunate to escape the crash with cuts and bruises, Const O'Connell said.
It was too early to say whether any charges would be laid, she said.
