A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a gun was discharged during a domestic dispute between neighbours in Queensberry, between Wanaka and Cromwell, at the weekend.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said a Dunedin-based armed offenders squad was called to the incident about 1.30am on Saturday.
It was unclear what the dispute was over or what caused a shot to be fired, he said.
Two people were involved and no-one was injured.
The arrested man, from Central Otago, was facing one charge of discharging a firearm and five charges of unlawfully possessing a firearm.
Snr Sgt Dinnissen would not comment on what guns were recovered or what gun was involved in the incident.
The man was due to appear in the Queenstown District Court today.
