The grandchildren of Mr Anderson - Brian Anderson, of Gore, Ray Anderson, of Townsville, Jim Anderson, of Harrow in the United Kingdom, and Colleen Humphries (nee Anderson), of Townsville - took their special trip down memory lane to the picturesque ghost town on Wednesday last week.
Their grandfather's gold quartz stamper battery continues to be known as Andersons Battery. It was worked from 1907 to 1910 in its present location. It is the only known all-metal stamping battery in Otago.
The family's guide was Arrowtown 4WD scenic tour operator Adin May, of Southern Explorer.
"I've taken two brothers before, but this was the first time all four siblings had been together at Macetown to reminisce over old stories," Mr May said.
