Police still making inquiries over teen's shooting

Police have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection to a shooting in Glenorchy last week.

A 16-year-old was taken to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter in a serious condition after he was shot in the head with an air gun at a Glenorchy address about 6pm last Thursday.

The circumstances of the shooting were unclear, Detective Regan Boucher, of Queenstown, said yesterday.

''It's being treated as a serious crime and we have to carry out inquiries to establish what happened at the address,'' he said.

The investigation was ongoing, but ''we are not looking for anyone else in respect of it''.

A spokeswoman for Dunedin Hospital said last night the teenager was conscious and ''progressing favourably in the general ward''.
