Volunteers needed for event

Volunteers are being sought to help with the first Queenstown Blues and Roots Festival on April 26.

About 40 volunteers are needed the day before the festival to assist with ticketing, people management and set-up and pack-down, in return for free entry to the event, food and refreshments.

''We're after trustworthy and hardworking people who are over 18 and can spare a minimum six hours of their time to help out at what will be an amazing event,'' festival director Grant Hilton said.

''Volunteers are crucial to making the event a success and we're looking for people to fill a variety of roles. So, for example, anyone with general handyman skills who can operate machinery or move boxes around would be useful for the Friday."

• The application form is available on the festival website.
