Dog lost in Bentley crash

A woman whose Bentley convertible overturned on State Highway 6 between Queenstown and Kingston on Sunday is ``heartbroken'' after her dog disappeared following the crash, police say.

Two motorists who stopped at the scene tried to catch the 4-year-old Boxer, Dora, but she eluded them and has not been seen since.

The 70-year-old sole occupant of the car was taken to Lakes District Hospital after the crash, which happened 13km south of Frankton, near Wye Creek, about 11.45am.

Acting Sergeant Heaeen Chung said police had yet to speak to the woman, who remained in hospital, but understood she was distraught about her missing pet.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash, which blocked one lane of the highway for about two and a-half hours.

The injured woman was trapped in her vehicle and had to be freed by emergency service personnel.
