In Gaelic football, the senior women’s and men’s sides won hard-fought finals against teams from Auckland’s Marist Rangers by eight and 11 points, respectively — it’s the first time the teams have taken out national titles simultaneously.
The Queenstown teams’ pace, fitness and skill proved decisive.
In their final, the Queenstown-dominated Barbarians hurling team — comprising 11 local players, four from Christchurch and two from Hamilton — beat Auckland by nine points to take out their second consecutive national title.
Again their skill and physicality made the winning difference.
