June 15 opening

The operator of Snow Park NZ in the Cardrona Valley, between Wanaka and Queenstown, has announced its plans for the coming season, with a targeted opening date of June 15.

In a press release yesterday, general manager Robin Sadowski-Synnott said pre-season pass sales were "pacing twice as strong as last season".

That indicated the ski and snowboard community had "taken notice" the park "has lifted its game over the past two years under the stewardship of Snow Park Holdings", she said.

The park was established by the Lee family on land they still own.

Ms Sadowski-Synnott said 2011 revenue was up 33% on 2010 which, in turn, was up 25% on 2009.

"Snow Park is highly valued, and it is exciting to be able to continue this year for everybody involved," she said.

Snow Park offers freestyle ski and snowboarding and is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Grooming and park building teams had begun work amid early-season snowfalls, Ms Sadowski-Synnott said.
