The non-profit organisation, based in Frankton, provides families with access to over 1000 toys, puzzles, games, costumes, bikes and outdoor play equipment.
Incorporated in 1993, members can borrow items for three weeks at a time, while most items can be renewed once, giving families up to six weeks of play.
Committee member Gary Hough says there’s been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes to revitalise the library, at the Queenstown Events Centre.
That includes welcoming the organisation’s first corporate sponsors, Pak’n Save Queenstown and Westpac, who’ve committed to an annual $1500 support package.
Pak’n Save’s covered the cost of three ‘Play It Forward’ membership vouchers, to be distributed by Plunket Wakatipu to deserving families, while Westpac’s donated some new toys.
Hough is keen to hear from any other businesses able to help rejuvenate the community service, noting individuals can also help by donating single toys.
An online wishlist, detailing what they’d like to add to the collection, is available via shorturl.fm/xoFDp.
People can also purchase annual membership vouchers ($50) as Christmas gifts by emailing wakatiputoylibrary@gmail.com
