Valentine's Day will also be the day of the third annual Big River Festival in Balclutha, organisers have confirmed.
Project Clutha, which has held two riverbank festivals, has settled on Saturday, February 14, as the day of its biggest event of the year.
The group's publicity officer, Briega Pipping, said the event falls on the same day as the Otago Shearing and New Zealand Woolhandling Championships, which will be held at the nearby Balclutha War Memorial Hall.
Most of the sponsorship has been confirmed, with businesses backing the popular raft race and duathlon events.
Groups wanting to operate stalls on the riverbank can download application forms from the group's website.
Entry forms and information sheets for the duathlon and raft race are also available.
The riverbank beside the Balclutha bridge was the perfect spot for the gathering, Ms Pipping said.
The festival starts at 10am and ends at 4pm.
Entertainment for children was a priority to entice families along, she said.
A free bouncy castle will operate along with balloon sculptures, face painting, a hole-in-one golf competition and other attractions.
Ms Pipping encouraged those thinking about entering the duathlon to start training, and advised those planning to enter the raft race to start building a raft.
More festival details will be released in the coming weeks.
