The setting for Flagons and Foxtrots, which begins at the end of this month, requires characters to drink and talk while sitting on the back of a car.
Pictured are the cast of the play, Sophie Dix (16), James Hewitt (15), Conor Mills (17) and Grace Schuuman (17), searching for the set piece they need.
Show director Selena Aitken-Boyle said the society was in desperate need of half a car, complete with the boot and back wheels.
She had contacted local wreckers and panelbeaters but none were able to help.
''Surely, someone has got something in their backyard that we can cut the boot off.''
Cast members had been practising with chairs until they found something more suitable.
With no budget and the first performance on March 30, the cast and crew hoped someone could come to the rescue.
If anyone knew of anything available, they were asked to get in touch with Ms Aitken-Boyle at Blondee Hair on (03) 418-1973.
