An embryonic community foundation has received another seed-funding boost as it prepares itself for action.

The Clutha Foundation has announced it will take part in the Tindall Foundation Milestone Programme, which will provide it with more than $100,000 start-up funding during the next three to four years.

The Clutha Foundation was formed in August last year, and in May announced it had received $250,000 ''pass-
through'' funding over five years from the Otago Community Trust to allow it to begin disbursing funds to community projects.

Tindall Foundation manager John McCarthy said the foundation had been supporting the formation of community foundations nationwide for the past 18 years.

The Milestone Programme provided staggered funding as a new foundation reached organisational benchmarks.

Clutha had reached the first of these, and would receive $15,000 this year in support of administration costs, he said.

Clutha Foundation chairman Bill Thomson said the Tindall Foundation grant was a ''valuable contribution'' and

would allow trustees to focus on community outreach and fundraising.
