Organisers of two of the Clutha District's largest annual car events say they are not worried they are being held on the same day.

Long-running events the Lawrence Rally and the Kaitangata Car Show and Run are both being held on November 5 this year.

Lawrence Rally course clerk Mike Hosken said he had not been aware of the clash until now.

''Normally we run on the third weekend of November but this year we couldn't.''

However, he was not worried the Kaitangata Car Show and Run was on the same day as they were two ''very different'' events which would attract spectators with different interests.

''I wouldn't particularly think it's going to be much of an issue.''

While the rally was a motorsport event, the car show in Kaitangata was more likely to attract show cars, he said.

Organisers had been planning the event since about May, he said.

The ''low-key'' Lawrence Rally also had an entry limit of 50, Mr Hosken said.

Kaitangata Car Show and Run show secretary Louise McLaren said it was ''a bit of a surprise'' to find out the rally was on the same day as the Kaitangata event but she was not fazed by the clash.

Pre-registration numbers for this year's Kaitangata show were actually up on last year's at this stage.

She said the Car Show and Run was more of a family event.

There was plenty of interest not only from entrants but also businesses and stalls which wanted to attend.

The car show was celebrating its fifth year and she hoped there would be a good turn-out. Last year's event drew 150 entries.
