A Milton man has been charged with sexual violation after an incident last Friday night, Balclutha police said yesterday.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at a Milton house.
Detective Constable Craig Dinnissen, of the Balclutha combined investigation unit, said a 19-year-old woman from Dunedin who was visiting the house was assaulted over a two-hour period.
"The person [the alleged offender] was known to her prior to visiting the address," Det Const Dinnissen said.
"She has received physical injuries as a result of the assault."
Det Const Dinnissen said it was possible other charges might be laid.
• Shannon John Keane (22), unemployed, appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday on a charge of sexual violation.
He was remanded in custody, and is due to reappear on Tuesday.
