The 14th annual Milton Gutbuster and Family Trail Ride was a huge success on Saturday.

An impressive turnout of 473 riders, including 165 juniors enjoyed a day on a variety of rugged terrain from rolling farmland up to harvested and unharvested forestry and native bush featuring totara, lancewood, cabbage trees, manuka and kanuka then back down to swamp land and creek crossings.

The course included a family loop of about 32km, while the youngest riders enjoyed a safe, fun trail ride introduction on a 2km "peewee loop".

The more challenging "Gutbuster loop" of about 42km featured marked expert sections for those wanting to push their limits.

This year’s event raised funds for Tokomairiro High School and Toko Rugby’s clubroom renovations. Both groups helped out as road marshals.

"The Milton Gutbuster isn’t just about the ride — it’s about the community, adventure, and creating unforgettable memories," co-organiser Kelly Holden said.

"Our aim is to have something to suit all abilities, and none of this would be possible without the incredible generosity of our local landowners and sponsors.

"We’re thrilled to be able to give back to our community in this way."
