Firefighters are dampening hot spots after a bedroom fire at a house in Invercargill this afternoon.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews from Invercargill and Kingswell were called to scene in Tweed St about 4pm to extinguish the fire.

The fire, which was not well involved, was in a bedroom on the second floor, he said.

The fire has been extinguished and firefighters were just dampening down hot spots, he said.

"At this stage the fire is not being considered as suspicious," he said.
