Food, music festival

Food, music and other entertainment will take centre stage in Gore late next month.

The annual Hokonui Moonshiners Festival will be held on Saturday, February 21, with organisers promising more of the same ingredients that have made it a popular event in the South.

Co-ordinator Melissa King said the 2009 event was expected to be an enjoyable day out for the whole family.

The festival will be held in the town's arts and heritage precinct, with live music on stage from noon to 7pm.

Acts will include Christchurch bands Johnny Possum's Good Time Hootin' Band and the Easter, and Dunedin groups Delgirl and Catgut and Steel.

The other key part of the festival - food - would also be well taken care of, Mrs King said.

Top Southland culinary specialists would help create the atmosphere that had become part and parcel of the event, she said.

More details of the programme will be released later.
