The Mataura Licensing Trust is taking back the reins of the Heartland Hotel Croyden.
Following a successful 20-year management tenure of Heartland Hotel Croydon, Scenic Hotel Group is handing back the management of the hotel to local hands.
The trust will take over all operations and overall management of the hotel from November.
Scenic Hotel Group managing director Brendan Taylor said the Heartland Hotel Croyden had been a consistent and strong performer and the staff had created a strong position for the hotel.
Mr Taylor pointed to the hotel's unique location as being equal in distance from Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown, making it an attractive meeting venue for businesses, the rural sector, and an events venue for weddings and special occasions.
MLT had refurbished the hotel recently and all existing bookings made for stays beyond November 1 would be honoured by the hotel.
