Foodstuffs NZ says a deep clean has been carried out after Southern Public Health confirmed a customer with Covid-19 visited its New World Windsor store in Invercargill on Thursday 12th March between 4pm-5pm.

"Public Health has advised that the risk to customers and staff is considered very low. But we would like to ask any customer who was in the store during this time to please contact the dedicated COVID-19 Healthline number 0800 358 3553.’’

She said there was no "current requirement’’ for staff to undertake self-isolation.

However, if they felt unwell, they should stay at home and call Healthline for further advice.

"Additional deep cleaning of the store was undertaken as soon as we were informed and entailed special cleaning of all public surfaces including trolleys, baskets and check outs,’’ she said.

Store staff had also been provided with additional hand sanitiser, and check out cleaning facilities were across all health and safety protocols "as advised by health authorities’’.

The store staff would remain "vigilant’’ in terms of keeping themselves and customers safe.
