Photos show man trying to rob Gore pub

Police have released photos of the masked and shoe-less man who tried to rob a pub in Gore at knife-point on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Scott MacKenzie, of Gore, said the man robbed Traffers Bar in Gore about 8.45pm.

He entered the Hokonui Dr pub armed with a knife and demanded cash from the manager, but was unable to access the till and fled, Det Sgt MacKenzie said.

Police said he was wearing the following:

  •     a black long-sleeved hoodie
  •     a black baseball-style cap
  •     a pair of black knee-length ‘Puma’ brand shorts
  •     a red bandanna with white spots
  •     purple socks with black spots

The robber was also carrying a black reusable Countdown shopping bag.

Det Sgt MacKenzie said police made public the photos in the hope the public would help identify the robber.

"If you recognise this person or the items of clothing he is wearing then we urge you to contact us."
