The Catalina flying boat, pictured landing on Lake Wanaka, will be back for next Easter's Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow.

Warbirds general manager Ed Taylor said show organisers were "thrilled" the Catalina would return.

"We get so much amazing feedback from visitors, especially from overseas, who just love to see the majestic Catalina come in low to land."

The Catalina was built at the Vickers aircraft factory near Montreal, Canada, in March 1944 and is one of only a handful still flying.
