The new facility houses eight specialised science laboratories, five general learning spaces, and four breakout areas. The building also serves as the new home for the student support centre, Whare Manaaki.
Sir Peter has spoken of his time at the college as having provided him with the resources to fuel his passion for engineering.
The now billionaire was knighted in 2024.
In a statement, principal Anna McDowall said the project had been several years in the making, following an initial proposal to the Ministry of Education in 2019.
