Final period costs Breakers

The New Zealand Breakers were once again left to rue a throttle-off final quarter as they suffered a 79-72 away loss to the Sydney Kings at Qdos Bank Arena yesterday.

The Kings trailed at every change and were unconvincing for long patches, at one point falling 13 points behind — but they finished strongly with a 27-18 final quarter to come away with the win.

Breakers point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright had 23 points and seven assists, while big Sam Mennenga scored 15 points.

For the Kings, Xavier Cooks posted 21 points and 14 rebounds. — Allied Media
