Forty teams from around the South Island are in Dunedin to compete in both the boys' and girls' tournaments. It is one of four AA premierships around the country this week.
The tournament began yesterday and runs until Saturday, with both finals scheduled for 5.45pm.
Of the local schools, Otago Boys', Waitaki Boys', King's High School and John McGlashan College are playing in the boys section, while St Hilda's Collegiate, Otago Girls' High School and Columba College are in the girls section.
The top six teams in each qualify for the national championships. Across the country, there are 224 senior teams competing in both AA and A premierships, alongside 128 teams at junior tournaments.
