Black Caps pace bowler Trent Boult is looking for some blue skies and green grass.

He got what he was looking for yesterday.

Boult is one of the most experienced players in the Black Caps lineup but would be missing a couple of his usual team-mates.

He said it was different not having Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor in the lineup, but as a bowler it was simply about the batsmen putting on the runs. Williamson and Taylor are likely to be replaced by Will Young and Devon Conway while Tom Latham will captain the team.

"The batting order will look a little bit different but there are some guys who have been putting their hands up in different parts of the summer. Obviously Devon has been an exciting man to watch and I hope he gets a crack and gets out there and continues his form," he said.

"But we need to be on the mark with these guys. They are a good side, some experience in their side and have got some players that we need to look out for with the bat. It is going to be a good series."

It did not matter to him who scored the runs for the Black Caps but as a bowler it was runs and lots of them he wanted from others in the team.

"As long as it is me I don’t mind [who scores the runs]. The guys have been playing very well. Different personnel have put their hands up at different parts of the season and in the series so far."

He was looking to play one-day cricket after a year off.

He said the Bangladesh side would be facing conditions they were not used to when they took to the field.

"It’s colder ... the nice blue skies and a bit of grass on the wicket prepared in Dhaka or somewhere where it is humid and a little bit of spin."

Boult said the Oval was a great place to play cricket.

"It is a good place to play cricket.

"The game we had here against the Australians was exciting and a great crowd.

"Good to see some youth down here following the game.

"I do enjoy coming down here and playing some cricket down here."

He said test cricket was still his preference but he nonetheless enjoyed playing one-day cricket too.

"If the ball is swinging around and there is some grass on the wicket I’m a pretty happy man and I don’t mind what format we’re playing."
