Green Island 201 for nine beat
Albion 101 all out by 100 runs

It was not even close as Green Island had a convincing win at Sunnyvale against Albion.

It was expected to be a close contest but the home team was in control the entire way as Albion failed to put up much of a fight.

Green Island batted first and made 201 in 50 overs.

Nathan Watt scored 40 in the Green Island top order but the real damage was done by Geordie Scott and Jack Pryde, who combined in a 70-run partnership.

That took the game away from Albion, which had Green Island six wickets down with less than 100 on the board.

Scott ended up with an unbeaten 54 and Pryde tallied 26.

Chasing a stiff target on a tough pitch for batting, Albion never got going.Green Island veteran Dion Lobb bowled his usual persistent line and was rewarded with a five-wicket bag, while Blair Soper and Christi Viljoen picked up two wickets each.

The damage could have been worse for Albion, which was 64 for nine  before Richie Buchanan came to the wicket.

The No11 batsman hit the first ball he faced back over the bowler’s head for six and continued to attack, knocking up an undefeated 27 to top-score for his side and edge it into three figures.

Carisbrook-Dn 211 by 11 runs

Kaikorai  did just enough to beat Carisbrook-Dunedin in a tight encounter at Tonga Park. The visiting team batted first and did well to knock up 222, dismissed with eight balls left in the innings.

Richard Sillars picked up five cheap wickets for Carisbrook-Dunedin.

In reply, Carisbrook-Dunedin lost wickets regularly in the top order and was six down before reaching 100.

Kane McKay, batting at No6, showed some aggression, hitting 44 runs in boundaries in a knock of 77. But wickets still kept falling around him and when he went,  22 runs were still needed and the home team came up short.

Otago representatives Michael Rippon and Josh Finnie both picked up wickets as Kaikorai recorded the narrow victory.

Taieri 189 beat
North East Valley 107 by 82 runs

Taieri’s middle and bottom order did the business on Saturday at Brooklands and that was enough for the side to convincingly beat North East Valley.

The home team batted first and tallied 189 inside 48 overs.

The Taieri top order failed to get going and the side was 33 for four wickets, but some steady contributions from the rest of the side got the team through to a competitive 189. Jack Hunter tallied 40 and Marcus Frost hit 33.

In reply, North East Valley never got going. Tom Griffin hit 33 but the side lost its last six wickets for 15 runs as the tail did not wag.
