Kaikorai 105 tied with Albion 105

The penultimate round of senior club cricket threw up an odd result with Kaikorai and Albion battling to a low-scoring tie at Bishopscourt.

Both teams could muster just 105 on a day when the bowlers dominated with one notable exception.

Otago-contracted player Josh Finnie scored more than 60% of Kaikorai's total with an unbeaten 65 from 59 deliveries.

He smashed eight fours and two sixes but had virtually no support. Taine Bayly was the only other Kaikorai batsman to reach double figures in an innings which featured five ducks.

Seamer Josh Cuttance picked up the bulk of the wickets with four for 42. However, Albion found batting just as tough.

Finnie was to the fore again with three for 22 and Matt Hunter took four for 18 as Albion crashed from 66 for three to be all out.

Cuttance and Daniel Duke led the effort with the bat for Albion with 21 apiece.

North East Valley 56 lost to Taieri 59 for two

A bunch of Chris Martin clones must have shown up for North East Valley on the weekend because the side was bowled out for a dismal 56.

But then again Taieri was able to call on a formidable bowling line-up for its eight-wicket win
at Brooklands.

Otago fast bowler Warren Barnes took four for 17 and fringe Otago left-arm spinner Ben Lockrose claimed four for nine to help hasten Valley's demise.

Hunter Kindley was the only Valley batsman to reach double figures with his knock of 24 from 51 deliveries.

Taieri knocked off the target in 7.3 overs with opener Jarrod Casey undefeated of 32 from 23 balls.

Fraser Bartholomew picked up both wickets.

Green Island 291 for six beat Carisbrook-Dunedin 166

Green Island secured the Bing Harris Shield last week and celebrated with a comprehensive win against Carisbrook-Dunedin at Sunnyvale.

Aside from a couple of failures at the top of the order, Green Island's batting card made for impressive reading with Christi Viljoen (82), Ant Harris (63) and Geordie Scott (42) all making valuable contributions to help their side reach a formidable total of 291 for six.

Medium pacer Steven Newey produced a tidy spell for Carisbrook-Dunedin with one for 32 from 10 overs.

The reply got off to a horror start with Max Chu trapped lbw first ball by veteran medium pacer Dion Lobb. In-form batsman Camden Hawkins also fell early, leaving his side with plenty to do.

Richard Sillars top-scored with 51 and Dhvanil Gundhi (21) and Patrick Arnold (27) made cameos. But the visiting team never really got into a position to make a serious push.

Veteran all-rounder Mark Joyce cleaned up the tail with four for 20 to close out the 125-run win.
