New base for Auckland

Auckland Cricket has committed to a redevelopment of Colin Maiden Park and hopes to have their new home for the sport ready by January.

The $10 million redevelopment will include an expanded and reoriented pitch block, new outfield, spectator-friendly embankments, a custom-refitted pavilion including a long room and modern changing facilities, broadcast infrastructure and an all-weather grass training facility.

Auckland Cricket will leave Eden Park, its traditional home for over a century. Both the Auckland City Council and the government are chipping in $5m for the work. — Allied Media
