The Otago Volts have headed down the road to Invercargill, hosting Canterbury in the one-day clash at Queens Park today.

The Volts will be wearing a special Southland-inspired jersey in a nod to the community.

Wonderkid Hugo Bogue could be in line to make his Otago debut after being named in the travelling squad.

He will join Mason Clarke — who recently, alongside Bogue, returned home from the Under-19 World Cup — and Thomas O’Connor, who have also been called into the squad.

Jamal Todd, Danru Ferns and Jake Gibson make way for the newcomers.

Bogue, Clarke and O’Connor are all fresh off helping Otago Country snatch an outright victory against Mid Canterbury in their Hawke Cup clash at the weekend.

Bogue smacked 42 off 31 balls, Clarke snatched three for 14 with the ball and O’Connor had a day out with the bat and ball. He pumped 84 off 65 balls, including 11 boundaries, and took five for 57 with the ball to put the game to bed.

The Volts are yet to win a Ford Trophy clash this summer.

They went down by 56-runs to Wellington at the University Oval on Saturday and are out of playoff contention

They have a tough task against Canterbury, who sit atop the Ford Trophy ladder.
