King's High School recorded a comprehensive 136-run win in its Gillette Cup regional semifinal against Wakatipu High School at Tonga Park yesterday after posting 220 for eight.

Otago Boys' High School beat Southland Boys' High School by four wickets in the other semifinal.

Rain disrupted the tournament so a date for the final will have to be rescheduled.

At Bishopscourt, John McGlashan College clinched a spot at the national finals with a dramatic last-over win against Balmacewen Intermediate in the intermediate boys regional final.

At the junior secondary schoolboys finals in Palmerston North, King's High School lost to Hamilton Boys' High School by four wickets.

Last week, St Hilda's Collegiate dispatched Columba College in the regional final of the Gillette Venus Cup and has qualified for the national finals later this year.

In the intermediate girls competition, Balmacewen Intermediate beat Queenstown Primary School to clinch a berth at the national finals.
