The Phoenix returned from a tough away trip to Adelaide and Perth with nothing to show for it - two 2-1 defeats meant their season record dipped to three wins and four losses from seven games.
Wellington were missing Michael McGlinchey, Brockie, Michael Boxall and Tyler Boyd for the first match, on All Whites duty in China and Thailand.
McGlinchey also missed the Perth match, returning to be with wife Rachel for the birth of daughter Annabelle.
Brockie says McGlinchey's return will boost the Phoenix going into Sunday's eighth round clash against Melbourne City at Westpac Stadium.
"It will help having Mikey back in the side - he creates a lot of opportunities for the front men."
Ranked fifth to City's sixth on the A-League ladder, Wellington desperately need a win to regain some of the early momentum which gave them three wins from their first five matches.
Brockie says the return of McGlinchey, a few tweaks on the training field and a little extra patience on the final pass will give the Phoenix a good chance of picking up their fourth win of the season.
"Our build-up play is good, but when we get close to that front third, we rush our pass or take the wrong option and give the ball away," he said.
"Then we're back defending our own goal again.
"So if we can be a bit more patient in that front third and then take the opportunities when they come, we shouldn't have a problem."
He said it was important the Phoenix pick up at least two wins from their next three matches against lower ranked teams - after Melbourne City, they are away to Newcastle Jets then host Central Coast Mariners.
"Hopefully we can get seven out of nine points for those three, and then boost ourselves up the ladder and consolidate the top six a little bit more."
