Jo Hicks-Beach shot 151 for two rounds on the Balclutha course on Thursday to win the Otago Champion of Champions title.
Hicks-Beach won the silver title at both the Arrowtown and Queenstown clubs this year and took the provincial title by an impressive 13 shots from Wanaka evergreen Liz McRae.
She also helped the Queenstown club win the team event while her scores helped the Arrowtown club to third place.
Her form augurs well for the performance of the Otago team, which will play in the South Island event at St Clair this weekend.
This is a prelude to the interprovincial which will be played at St Clair in December, where highly-rated Lydia Ko is expected to make her return to golf after a break for NCEA examinations.
In addition to Hicks-Beach, McRae and Susan Greig will also play in the eight-strong team this weekend.
A pleasing addition to the Otago team is Balmacewen's Rebecca Tsai, who will make her debut at No 3 this morning.
Justin Rose beat 14-time major champion Tiger Woods in the semifinals in Belek, Turkey, yesterday to set up a title showdown with fellow Englishman Lee Westwood at the world golf final exhibition event, Reuters reported.
Westwood and Rose will go head to head for the first prize of $1.5 million in the inaugural event.
Rose (69) carded two birdies and an eagle in the last six holes to beat world No 2 Woods, who eliminated top-ranked Rory McIlroy earlier in the day, by one shot.
Westwood blitzed his way past 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel by six strokes, the world No 4 firing two eagles and eight birdies in a course record, 10-under 61.
Rose trailed Woods, who beat McIlroy by six strokes in their final Group One encounter, until he holed a 110m sand wedge for an eagle two at the 14th.
The American smiled while Rose pulled his cap over his face after his ball took two bounces and disappeared into the hole.
"When Justin birdied 13 and holed out at 14 it was the turning point in the match," Woods said.
"I was two up at the time and all of a sudden one down with four to play.''
Rose, who carded a 62 to beat US Open champion Webb Simpson in the morning, agreed with the sentiments of Woods.
"That shot at 14 was easily the turning point," he said.
