The Alpiners men will get a chance to right wrongs in the Premier Hockey League final.
The southern side had already booked their spot in the final but suffered a setback yesterday, losing the final round-robin game 2-0 to the Mavericks in Christchurch.
It was the Alpiners’ first loss of the season — during the double-header round — but they will have the chance to avenge that when they meet the Mavericks in the final.
The Tridents will play the Falcons in the men’s bronze-medal clash.
In the women’s finals, the Falcons will meet the Tridents in the gold-medal game, while the Alpiners women still have a chance to snatch a medal when they meet the Mavericks in the bronze-medal playoff.
It was a big weekend of hockey with a double-header round played yesterday and Saturday.
On Saturday, the Alpiners women lost 4-1 to the Falcons, while the Tridents recorded a 5-1 win against the Mavericks.
Yesterday the Mavericks pipped the Alpiners 3-2 — thanks to a conversion — and the Alpiners will look to reverse that result when they come up against them this weekend.

In the men’s games, the Alpiners secured a 6-2 victory against the Tridents, while the Falcons beat the Mavericks 7-4 in a high-scoring affair.
