The Otago University club will be aiming to claim both the men's and the women's titles in their respective finals today.
University has 10 teams -making it the largest club in Dunedin - and both A teams are regulars in club finals.
However, it has been years since the students held the title.
The University A women last won the title in 2011, while the men have not claimed a championship since 2010.
''We've had a bit of a drought, but we'll look to end that,'' men's captain Nick Instone said.
The premier finals have been dramatic in recent years and several matches have gone to extra time and shootouts.
The University men will face four-time defending champion Albany, while the University women play City Highlanders, who have not been in a premier final for more than five years.
History can count for little, however, and recently
City has beaten University 6-1, and the University men have beaten Albany 4-1, suggesting the finals may not be as close as in the past.
The University women's defence will be bolstered by National Hockey League players Tori Vao and goalkeeper Ginny Wilson, while the men's strike line of NHL players Kieran O'Connor, Sebastian Buddle and Lachie Davidson will certainly be one to watch.
