Fierce rivals University, Physed to meet in final again

And so they meet again. After a tough competition, University Albion A and Physed A will meet in the Dunedin premier 1 final at the Edgar Centre this afternoon.

They have had some fierce battles through the years, including last year’s final, where University won back-to-back titles after beating Physed 65-52.

But Physed have come through as the top seed this season and have the slight wood over University.

They beat University 57-50 on May 10, 42-35 on June 7 and 66-51 on August 9.

But anything can happen come finals and both teams will be hunting to finish their season off in style.

Physed A shooter Lucy Morrison has been a standout all season.

The former Columba College netballer brings experience from the Dunedin under-18 side — where they finished runners-up at the national championships — and with the Southern Blast in the National Netball League.

Midcourters Praise Hola and Millie Hassall, also Blast players, provide strong depth through the middle.

University are home to Ella Southby, who has come back from injury to be named in the New Zealand squad to compete at the Netball World Youth Cup next month.

Team-mate Alice Cocker is also heading to Gibraltar representing Tonga.

Grace Southby, a Southern Steel training partner, is always a key cog in their attack end, and Blast player Emilie Nicholson picks up plenty of ball in defence.

Centre pass is at 3.30pm.
