The top-ranked teams from round two played the bottom teams, producing predictable results, as round three of the Dunedin premier club competition got under way at the Edgar centre on Saturday.
Third-placed College A easily beat fifth-placed Southern B 71-43.
College has been systematically improving its performances this season, with good, solid attack and defensive plays, and this match was another opportunity for it to solidify its place on the table.
In the opening quarter, College took a firm grip on the game and by the end of the period led 17-10.
Southern B has been struggling to find any real form this season. Southern's playing roster is a mixture of older and younger players that, in the past, has provided it with a good platform for developing young players.
However, this year, this seems to have been compromised by the team having to call on casual players or those from lower grades to make up the numbers.
College, on the other hand, has had a core group of players in its team for two seasons and it is building on this.
By halftime, College had extended its lead to 34-21 and was playing positive attacking netball, which it maintained in the third and fourth quarters.
Newly promoted Columba Senior A had a respectable loss to top-ranked Uni Albion A 68-31.
This was always going to be a big ask for the schoolgirls, but they will go away from the match with new insights into what it takes to play in the top flight.
