Steel wing attack Gina Crampton may have helped inspire a future Steel player at the Edgar Centre yesterday.
The Steel's "learn from the best'' coaching programme attracted about 100 year 6 to year 13 pupils.
The children paid $12 each to learn from the best and judging by the smiles, the lessons were a steal (pardon the pun).
There was some bad news for Dunedin-based netball fans, though.
The composite men's team the Steel had locked in for a warm-up game at Columba College on Sunday has pulled out of the fixture. Steel management is working on "plan B'' but that is unlikely to involve playing a game in Dunedin.
