Female thoroughbred trainers showed off their skills and seem to have made world history by training every winner at yesterday's Gore meeting.
Lisa Vaughan led the way with two wins, while Jo-Ann Gordon, Amanda Schwarz, Leda Beck and Jackie Burrows each got a win on the seven-race card.
Aimee Tyler added another victory when she scored a win in partnership with her father, Kelvin Tyler.
It is believed is the first time women trainers have trained the winners of an entire race card anywhere in the world.
However, this has yet to be confirmed.
Gordon said the women's whitewash showed the strength of numbers among the training ranks in the south.
"It is very cool, it was a good result," she said.
"Women are taking over. They are everywhere - there were probably more women trainers at the races today than men.
"I hope we can do it again on Melbourne Cup day at Wingatui."
Aimee Tyler is the newest member of the female training ranks in Otago and Southland.
Yesterday's achievement came during a big October for the horsewoman, following the earlier birth of her son.
That meant Tyler was not able to be on course for yesterday's feat, but it did not dampen her enthusiasm for the achievement.
"It is a really good accomplishment and shows women trainers can do anything. There are some strong women in the racing industry.
"I have been really loving my time as a trainer."
Burrows was the only trainer based outside Southland among the five horsewomen who notched a win yesterday.
The Christchurch trainer said she was delighted to be part of yesterday's feat.
"I think it is fantastic."
Yesterday's results showed the equality among the Southern racing ranks, Burrows said.
"I think the great thing in thoroughbred racing is that everybody does get a crack, really."
In March of last year women jockeys won every race at an Ashburton meeting, in a New Zealand first. The accomplishment had previously been achieved in Australia in 2015.
Yesterday's winners were: Race 1: Mother Goose (Jo-Ann Gordon), Race 2: Shirley Maude (Lisa Vaughan), Race 3: So Natural (Amanda Schwarz), Race 4: Sounds Promising (Leda Beck) Race 5: Heaven Knows (Jackie Burrows), Race 6: Galway Garry (Aimee Tyler, in partnership with Kelvin Tyler) Race 7: Morrellmac (Lisa Vaughan).
