The quest for a fourth Grand National Steeplechase continues for Brian Anderton when High Forty takes his place in the 5600m feature tomorrow.
Anderton, who has tasted success with Bymai (1984), Lord Venture (1988) and Noble Express (1994), feels as though High Forty could be hitting his straps at the right time.
''It was a good run. All the way through we've raised the bar with him a wee bit,'' Anderton said.
''The question mark is whether he'll get the distance or not.''
High Forty's last three runs over distances of more than 4000m have yielded a first and second at Timaru and last week's third in the Koral.
High Forty, who will be ridden once again by Grand National Hurdle-winning jockey Alan Browne, is owned by Anderton, his wife, Lorraine, and their good friend, Terry Burke, of Tamworth in New South Wales. Burke is on holiday ''somewhere in the Pacific Islands'', Anderton said.
''He comes home on Monday and I hope he comes home to some good news.''
