Racing: Trainer barred from course

Warren Bartlett, the Oamaru trainer, has been the subject of a trespass notice, barring him from the Oamaru racecourse.

"The notice was issued after a long period of warnings from the joint grounds committee to improve his behaviour," John Mudie, the secretary of the Oamaru Harness Racing Club, said.

Mudie said Bartlett returned to the Oamaru course for the race meeting on September 16 and he was escorted from the racecourse by police. Mudie said the trespass notice would be in force for at least two years.

The horses Bartlett has in training on the track are being tended by others.

Bartlett is president of the Kurow Trotting Club which holds an annual race meeting at Oamaru in August.

"The matter is in the hands of my lawyer and I don't want to comment," Bartlett said last night.

Bartlett made his name as a trainer with trotter Raymauwarrhen Sun. He prepared the gelding for 11 of his 22 wins, the last at Oamaru in 2010 when Raymauwarrhen Sun was 13.

• Pattisun, who has not raced since September last year, resumes at Winton on Sunday.

Pattisun underwent surgery to a suspensory ligament of a hind leg after winning his last start at Oamaru.

The winner of six races, Pattisun has had setbacks in his latest preparation with Andrew Faulks. He pulled a muscle and twisted a leg.

Yankee One, back with Winton owner Trevor Wilson, is also resuming at the Wairio meeting at Winton. Now an 8yr-old, he has only raced nine times with his last start in May, 2011.

The Muscles Yankee gelding won first up at Winton in December, 2010 from three starts for Wilson. He was placed at Alexandra Park and Cambridge when trained by Dave and Clare McGowan.

•Zenola Seelster will resume racing tomorrow night at Cambridge from a 60m handicap. His stablemate, Jarcullembra, has been scratched after an adverse result from a blood test.

"The handicap is not ideal for Zenola Seelster but we will see how he goes and take it from there," Geoff Small, their trainer, said."

• Jarcullembra will trial on Tuesday and all going well will head to Ashburton for the Flying Stakes." Fly Like An Eagle has improved four placings to 14 in the rankings for the New Zealand Trotting Cup as the result of his win in the Methven Cup on Sunday.
