The Steven Anderton-trained mare will carry the top weight of 59kg in the 2500m feature, and Anderton said the weight would be the test for the Wingatui-based 6yr-old.
''She's pretty well within herself. We've just got to see if she can carry 59kg,'' Anderton said.
The Glitzy One's preparation leading to New Zealand Cup week has been almost perfect, with a second at Wingatui in late September, a fifth at Ashburton on October 19, and a third at Riccarton two weeks ago giving the daughter of Flying Spur a chance to tighten up.
Auckland jockey Mark Du Plessis has picked up the ride due to uncertainty over the status of previous rider Jamie Bullard, who was successful in getting a four-day suspension changed to a three-day suspension and a $750 fine at a hearing on Tuesday.
''Bully had four days and he wasn't going to find out until the Tuesday when the nominations went in,'' Anderton explained.
''The boys were a bit concerned that if he didn't get [the reduction] we wouldn't have had a rider.
''Mark Du Plessis was available at the time and we spoke to Bully about it and he was fine.
''If she does run in the [New Zealand Cup], he's back on her in the cup.''
An attack on the New Zealand Cup on November 16 is still no sure thing, though, especially as The Glitzy One will have to lug 58.5kg over the extreme distance. It is not often a trainer cheers on a rival, but Anderton was gutted to see Guns At Five lose by a nose in the Feilding Gold Cup last Saturday, as that would have changed the weights for the New Zealand Cup.
''That would have put [The Glitzy One] down to about 57.5kg - another stride and it would have won.
''We're just a bit worried about [the weight for the cup] because we don't want her to bust a gut. Obviously the autumn is a real goal for us.
''We'll just see how she goes on Saturday and if we look like we're going to the cup, we'll wait until Wednesday and make a decision on how she pulls up.''
Anderton expects Du Plessis will make the most of the useful draw of barrier 3.
''It'll be a good draw because she can race a wee bit handier.
''She has won up on the pace and when you're carrying 59kg, you don't want to be too far off the leader. Mark should give her a good run from there.''
Du Plessis has also been engaged to ride The Diamond One in the Canterbury Breeders' Stakes on November 13.
Pitman team firing
Michael Pitman's stable has made a flying start to the new season and, as always, the Riccarton trainer has a strong team set to attack the three-day New Zealand Cup carnival, NZ Racing Desk reports.
''We've won 14 races already and all of them have been on feature or premier days, and that's the most I've ever trained at this time of the year,'' he said.
Group 1 sprinter Coup Align has been kept ticking over since his blazing victory on the track in April in his first appearance since returning from Singapore.
''He's really well and they will all be chasing him,'' Pitman said.
Coup Align won the 2009 Pegasus and lines up in this year's edition tomorrow.
