Alhambra-Union shook off the disappointment of being docked five competition points with a gutsy 43-41 win against Green Island in a Dunedin division 1 match at Miller Park this afternoon.

The Broncos' 38-10 win against Zingari-Richmond in round 10 was rescinded for fielding an ineligible player.

But they turned that frustration into a memorable win against the Grizzlies.

They brushed off an indifferent opening 15 minutes, which saw them concede three tries, to roar back into contention.

First five Will Thode had a memorable day. He scored late to tie the scores 41-41 and chipped the conversion through from a handy spot.

Southern crushed University 54-22 at the University Oval. That was the students’ fifth consecutive loss.

Dunedin eased to a 43-29 win against Zingari-Richmond and Taieri edged Harbour 26-12 at Peter Johnstone Park.
