The Pacific Rocket mare was a class above in the 1-3 win Southern Golden Girl series at Forbury Park last night, shooting to the lead from her wide barrier draw and pacing comfortably to a 2-length win.
''She had to work a wee bit out of the gate, but it worked out the way I was hoping it would anyway,'' Walkinshaw said.
Walkinshaw sent the 7yr-old for home shortly before the turn and she cut out the last 400m in 28.2sec - and all indications from the way she pulled up suggest she could be back next week.
''I was thinking of giving her a wee break, but I will nominate her for next week and see what the c3 to c7 field is like.''
Walkinshaw is wary of the step up in grade as the mare had been a one-win horse from May 2012 until last month.
''It's a big jump - she's gone from c1 to c4,'' he said.
''I'll just play it by ear and see how she'll handle it.''
Walkinshaw's faith in the mare has been rewarded after she went amiss between two starts in December 2009 and April 12.
''She's getting better and better every time she goes out.
''Her manners have come right, so we'll keep rolling around with her.''
Two of Roxy Rocket's owners, Mark Baird and Steve Berry, had made the trip south to watch Roxy Rocket race. For Berry, a regular visitor to Forbury Park, it was a thrill to see a horse of his win at Forbury Park in a good race.
Walkinshaw, Baird and Berry are joined in the ownership by Dane Yesberg, of Christchurch.
