Fog is affecting flights at Dunedin Airport this morning, while wintry conditions are making things tricky on some southern roads.
The airport advised of fog being present, and said anyone travelling today should check with their airline and "keep an eye on our website for the latest information before coming to the airport".
Several flights have been cancelled or delayed.
The NZ Transport Agency has issued cautions for several highways, owing to black ice and grit. These include State Highway 1, Dunedin to Palmerston; SH87, Outram to Kyeburn; and SH85, Palmerston to Kyeburn.
Further inland, the Queenstown Lakes District Council says it's a very cold morning, with temperatures down to -6C in places, and crews have been applying grit and CMA to combat ice and frost on roads.
Orbus says some services have been affected in the resort town.
"Due to ice and road conditions this morning buses are unable to travel up Fernhill Road into Fernhill/Sunshine Bay.
"Until further notice buses will only be travelling as far as the roundabout at the bottom of Fernhill Road, and the buses will begin Route 1 from the YHA Lakefront bus stop."
The Central Otago District Council says roads are mostly dry, with some icy patches that have been gritted. In an update just before 9am the council said ice had been reported on footpaths and in car parks in Cromwell, and it urged people to exercise caution.
