Two people were taken to hospital, one in a serious condition, following a crash in Waitati yesterday morning.
The person inside was initially unable to get out due to the angle of the vehicle in the ditch.
The single-vehicle crash just outside Blueskin Nurseries, on State Highway 1 near the Waitati turnoff, was reported to emergency services about 9.30am, police said.
A police spokesperson said the car crashed into a ditch.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one rapid response unit and one ambulance responded to the crash.
Two people were treated at the scene before being transported to Dunedin Hospital, the spokesperson said.
One was in a serious condition and the other in a moderate condition.
