School’s out

Cool conditions did not stop smart chaser Ring The Bell from running a hot time to win at Forbury Park yesterday.

The star greyhound left his rivals in a wake of drizzly rain to stride away to win his 770m contest by more than six lengths.

While the Ray Adcock-trained greyhound's win at money-back tote odds was hardly a surprise, his winning time was.

Ring The Bell's 47.20sec is the third-fastest clocked over the 770m distance at Forbury Park and it came on a rain-soaked track that was hardly in a condition for quick times.

The chaser had previously set the Forbury Park track record at 46.28sec in better conditions, while Winsome Dosh held the previous record of 46.93sec, set in 2009.

Favourite punters were rewarded with more lucrative odds when Wheelchair Norm had his 14th consecutive win at $1.80 tote odds in the following event on the programme.
