Spankem produced his second front-running win in a feature mile race when he triumphed in the Taylor Mile at Alexandra Park last night.

The Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen-trained pacer led and held out all challengers to add the 1609m feature to his Miracle Mile win from earlier this season.

Natalie Rasmussen speared Spankem out of the gate, and once they found the front their rivals never got a look-in.

Rasmussen controlled the race with steady sectionals that set up Spankem's respectable 1:53.4 winning time.

That tempo was solid enough to keep mid-race attackers at bay, and set the Taylor Mile up for an all-on pace finish.

Turn It Up landed outside Spankem and fought on to run second to his stablemate.

After landing a perfect run in the trail, Mach Shard rallied for third on the passing lane.

Sundees Sun confirmed his rise to New Zealand's open trotting ranks by winning last night's ANZAC Cup.

The Robert Dunn-trained 4yr-old gave his more experienced rivals a trotting lesson when clearing out to win the group 1 feature by almost two lengths.

The hopes of Sundees Sun producing a breakout top level victory did not look high when he was last with a lap of the ANZAC Cup to run, and favourite Marcoola was in front.

But driver John Dunn set Sundees Sun alight at the 800m, and he dashed away from his rivals.

Lemond ran in to second, but was no match for the winner.

Oamaru trotter Majestic Man ran into third placing in his biggest career test.

The 4yr-old dashed home after finding clear air late in the home straight.

The first of last night's group 1 events produced a shock result, despite still being claimed by New Zealand's leading stable.

Amazing Dream took out the 2yr-old fillies feature for the Purdon-Rasmussen stable when defeating her previously unbeaten stablemate, Sweet On Me.

Amazing Dream took advantage of her comfortable run in the trail to down the favourite, who was red-hot at $1.15.

Amazing Dream bagged a national record for 2yr-old fillies when scoring in 2:40.4 for 2200m.
