One club is guaranteed to break a moderate drought after the final of the Dunedin division 1 competition this Saturday.
But will the Demons be the ones left cackling in delight or will the Hawks soar to success?
Harbour and Kaikorai will face each other for the Speight’s championship shield at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Both had to show character and courage to battle to tight wins in their respective semifinals at the weekend.
Classy halfback Nathan Hastie scored a late try to seal Harbour’s 15-10 win over Taieri at Watson Park, while Kaikorai edged Southern 13-10 in a bruising encounter at Bathgate Park.
It has been seven years since either club made it as far as the final.
Harbour have never won the banner outright as a combined club but they shared the glory with University in 2018 when the sides drew 30-30 and could not be separated after extra time.
The Hawks were beaten finalists in 2017 and 2011.
Kaikorai are back in the big dance for the first time since 2016, when they beat Dunedin 29-22.
They previously won the banner in 1997 — their 13th, and first since 1921.
